Flowers of the coconut tree
Polynesia's secret aprodisiac!
Look up at any coconut tree and you'll see the flowers.
Thats because coconut trees never stop flowering
Each month a new flower emerges, keeping them in bloom year round
The male flowers open first, attracting tons of bees!
(its a great food for them)
Each individual flower opens only for a day or so.
The essence of each flower only potent for a few hours!
After the male flowers have all bloomed, the female flowers open.
This ensures genetic diversity.
In some countries the flowers are cut early, to harvest the nectar.
Allowed to ferment the nectar becomes a delicious cocktail called coconut toddy.
